Dans le prolongement de la première et passionnante aventure de Livre de photographie : une histoire, ce second volume continue de retracer l'histoire du livre de photographie la plus récente. Outre les ouvrages de photographies célèbres de Man Ray, Ed Ruscha, ou Andreas Gursky, y figurent plusieurs livres étonnants, signés par des inconnus ou des anonymes, permettant de découvrir des oeuvres injustement négligées. Le livre de photographie - images conçues ou présentées comme un ensemble - apparaît dès la naissance même de l'art photographique, autrement dit dès le début du XIXe siècle. Si le tirage unique est considéré par certains photographes comme l'expression de leur art, d'autres en revanche, voient dans le livre de photographies le moyen le plus propre à la diffusion de leur oeuvre. Résumé : Depuis 1995, sa carrière est jalonnée d'innombrables récompenses et distinctions internationales, comme si la force et l'intelligence de son travail s'imposaient au fil du temps comme une ?uvre universelle et cohérente plutôt que comme une suite brillante de reportages planétaires percutants. Paolo Pellegrin, photographe italien membre de l'agence Magnum, incarne une nouvelle génération de photoreporters qui, conscients de la démultiplication des modes de production et de diffusion de l'image d'actualité, s'attachent à renouveler la problématique de la vision des événements qu'ils documentent dans un souci éthique constant de la forme et du fond.
